Sunset
Marc Mosko, 1996

Sometimes standing on the lonely waterfront,
looking out at the gentle waves
trying so hard to still the surface
for two lovers soon to meet.

Deep sea currents raising swells
must cease their rhythmic beating.
Trade winds blowing foaming whitecaps
must still their breezy affair.

For in the eyes of a lonely heart
there comes a time of brief contentment.
Standing silent, hand unheld,
gazing West at the single sun.

There comes a time when it's red and low,
casting lost rays, most far off course,
when on the waters stilled and calm
there appears to those single eyes

Two suns, coherent, luminous,
Two souls, joined as one.
